Beijing, September 9 (China News Service, reporter Zuo Yukun) – The 2025 Top 50 Global Construction Machinery Manufacturers list was officially released on the 9th. Amidst a period of adjustment, with global industry sales declining 8.02% year-on-year, Chinese companies, with 13 companies on the list and three among the global top ten, and breakthrough technological achievements in intelligent, green, and high-end equipment, have become the "innovation growth pole" of the global construction machinery industry. This marks a comprehensive shift in China's construction machinery industry from "scale expansion" to "technological leadership."
Behind the list
The global construction machinery industry as a whole faces pressure for periodic adjustments in 2025. Data shows that the top 50 companies achieved total sales of $222.528 billion, a year-on-year decline of 8.02%; operating profits of $30.301 billion, a year-on-year decline of 10.86%; an average operating profit margin of 13.62%, a decrease of 0.43 percentage points from the previous year; and an average return on assets of 5.00%, a year-on-year decline of 1.32 percentage points. Against this backdrop, the robust performance of Chinese companies has become a key support for the global industry.

Innovation Core
- According to the list's core data, the top 50 global construction machinery companies in 2025 had total sales of $222.528 billion and operating profits of $30.301 billion, representing year-on-year declines of 8.02% and 10.86%, respectively. The industry as a whole is facing pressure from shrinking demand. However, Chinese companies, leveraging their technology-driven product competitiveness, have achieved breakthroughs against this trend: XCMG ranked fourth globally with sales of $12.769 billion, followed closely by Sany Heavy Industry (6th place), and Zoomlion Heavy Industry (12th place). The combined sales of these three companies accounted for 61% of the total sales of Chinese companies on the list, and the core of this achievement is the continuous iteration of technological innovation.
- Notably, the ranking leaps of several Chinese companies on the list are directly linked to technological breakthroughs: Shantui Co., Ltd., thanks to the implementation of AI-powered bulldozer technology, jumped five spots to 30th place; Lingong Heavy Machinery maintained its 32nd place position thanks to the large-scale application of its electric mining truck product line; and Zhejiang Dingli's breakthrough in intelligent control technology for aerial work platforms helped it maintain its leading position in the global market segment at 37th. This positive cycle of "technological breakthroughs - market recognition - and ranking leaps" has become a distinctive feature of Chinese construction machinery companies.

Three major technological directions break the global monopoly
In the global construction machinery industry's transformation towards "intelligentization, greening, and large-scale development," Chinese companies have shifted from "following" to "running alongside," and even "leading" in some areas. Core technological breakthroughs are concentrated in three major areas:

Intelligent technology
From "assisted operation" to "autonomous operation" Chinese companies have successfully implemented intelligent construction machinery in multiple scenarios.
Shantui Co., Ltd. released the world's first AI-powered bulldozer, equipped with its independently developed "Everest Smart Construction System." This system integrates three AI modules: environmental perception, path planning, and collaborative operations. It can achieve Level 3 autonomous operation in mining and infrastructure scenarios, increasing construction efficiency by 25% and reducing failure rates by 30% compared to manual operation.
XCMG's "unmanned mining truck cluster system" has achieved mixed operation of 100 unmanned mining trucks at the Huaneng Yimin open-pit mine. Through 5G + Beidou positioning technology, it has increased mining truck scheduling efficiency by 40%, saving more than 1,200 tons of oil per mine annually.
Green technology
Driven by the "dual carbon" goals, Chinese construction machinery companies have already established advantages in the large-scale application of new energy technologies. Sany Heavy Industry's electric loader, featuring a proprietary "three-electric" system (motor, battery, and electronic control), boasts a battery life exceeding eight hours, enabling all-day operations. The company currently holds a 38% global market share.
XCMG's complete zero-carbon smart mining solution covers a full range of equipment including electric excavators, electric mining trucks, photovoltaic power supply systems, etc. After being applied in the Zhundong Coal Mine in Xinjiang, the mine's overall carbon emissions were reduced by 65%, making it the world's first "zero-carbon demonstration mine."
Zoomlion's hydrogen fuel crane uses the dual-energy complementary technology of fuel cells and power batteries to achieve low-temperature startup at -30°C, filling the gap in the application of new energy engineering machinery in high-altitude and cold regions.

Large-scale technology
In the field of ultra-large construction machinery, Chinese companies have overcome numerous bottleneck technologies, breaking the long-standing monopoly held by European, American, and Japanese companies. XCMG's 700-ton mining excavator, featuring a proprietary hydraulic system and structural components, boasts a digging force of 5,600 kN, a 15% increase over similar imported models and a 30% reduction in cost. The excavator has already been delivered in batches to major mines worldwide, including those in Australia and Brazil.
Sany Heavy Industry's 4,000-ton crawler crane innovatively applies the "super-lifting and luffing mechanism" technology, with a maximum lifting capacity exceeding 4,000 tons. It successfully completed the lifting of Guangdong Petrochemical's 2,000-ton hydrogenation reactor, setting a new global record for crawler crane lifting. China Railway Construction Heavy Industry's 15-meter shield machine, equipped with the independently developed "earth pressure balance control system", achieved a monthly excavation of 380 meters in the Shenzhen Metro construction, with an efficiency increase of 20% compared to imported equipment.

Industry experts said that with the continuous deepening of technological innovation and the continuous improvement of global layout, China's construction machinery industry is expected to achieve a leap from "scale leadership" to "quality leadership" in the next 3-5 years. The 13 listed companies will continue to play a leading role in promoting China from a "major construction machinery country" to a "strong construction machinery country" and contribute more Chinese solutions to the development of global infrastructure and mining.
