Track group are made up of track links, pins, bushings, seal kits etc. There are two types of group: dry chains and lubricated chains. The former are commonly used on excavators, while the latter mainly on bulldozers. The pin rotates inside the bushing, internal wear on the pin and bushing is usually the main reason for dry chains requiring servicing. For lubricated chains, pins are drilled, providing a reservoir for lubricant, which is directed through a small oil passage to the area that between pin and bushing. By keeping the pin and bush lubricated, the wear life of the chain is extended.
